Welcome Remarks by the Co-Chairs

We look forward to welcoming you to Kuching in 2027!

We are deeply honoured and delighted to announce the launch of the webpage for the upcoming 11th World Melioidosis Congress (WMC XI). It will be held from 26 - 29 July 2027 in the beautiful city of Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, lush rainforests, and warm hospitality.

The theme for WMC XI is “Revisiting History, Embarking the Future” The first melioidosis symposium took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1994. It subsequently evolved into regular biennial or triennial congresses, hosted in cities across the Asia-Pacific region, including Thailand, Singapore, Australia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. WMC has served as a global platform for the melioidosis community to share the latest findings, discuss challenges, and collaborate on innovative solutions to combat this complex disease. It has also been instrumental in nurturing young clinicians and researchers, as well as fostering long-term collaborations and friendships.
